It’s not very often that we speak about Holland when it comes to advertising campaigns, until now that is. One of our favourite and prettiest labels, Valentino has just released the first images from their autumn winter 2013 campaign, and this time it is the Dutch masters who have played the part as muse.
Valentino Autumn Winter 2013 Campaign
The campaign, shot by photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin is a mixture of model shots and Flemish-style still life images, all shot in a high-contrast moody yet graceful fashion reminiscent of 17th Century artists Vermeer and Rembrandt.
Valentino Spring Summer 2013 Campaign
The model line-up is as impressive as the concept too: Kati Nescher, Magdalena Jasek, Irina Kravchenko, Sam Rollinson, Tamara Weijenberg, Laura Kampman and Sasha Luss all make an appearance. Valentino’s Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri spoke to WWD about how she saw the shots - “women represented like paintings, caught in the intimacy and magic of their gestures” with her co-creativedirector Pierpaolo Piccioli summarising it as “the magnificence of Flemish lights and 10 different characters of contemporary feminine grace and regality.”
Valentino Garavani Accessories Campaign Featuring Terry Richardson's Arm!
The campaign comes in stark contrast to the more sexy, gritty Valentino Garavani campaign which we brought you last May, an accessories campaign featuring none other than provocative photographer Terry Richardson. The stark, almost deafeningly quiet vibe of the A/W campaign reminds us of the brand's spring summer 2012 ads, which featured a line-up of models all minding their own business, one of whom wore our favourite long-sleeved embroidered Valentino dress of all time!
