While looking at the pictures from The Hobbit premiere something caught our eye. Yes, Cate Blanchett had a lovely frock on. Tricolour Antonio Beradi, FYI. OK, thousands of fans lined the streets of Wellington, New Zealand dressed as hobbits. Rather them than us. But the big news in our opinion was Martin Freeman's totes glam Hollywood make-over.
Gone are his days of wearing a Moss Bros suit and tea-stained tie as Tim in The Office. He's even shed the bumbling anorak and jeans combo he wears as Watson in Sherlock. And now he's looking a little bit (dare we say it) Daniel Craig?! Sharp suit, Ray-Ban aviators, slicked back hair, movie star pout. We feel a bit wrong admitting it, but we kind of fancy him.
Martin plays Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey, directed by Peter Jackson and out here on December 13. But seeing as J.R.R Tolkein (who wrote The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings) described Bilbo as: "fattish in the stomach, shortish in the leg. A round, jovial face: ears only slightly pointed and ‘elvish’; hair short and curling (brown). The feet from the ankles down, covered with brown hairy fur....” We doubt our crush will last long.
Luckily, Aidan Turner (from Being Human) and Bret McKenzie (from Flight of The Conchords) are also in the movie. Oh Peter Jackson, with this geeky boy candy you are really spoiling us.
