Who doesn't love a fashion dog? We had Donatella and her fabulous pooch Audrey on the cover of our big fashion issue and the poodles on the runway at Mulberry were one of our London Fashion Week highlights. The latest doggy fashion news comes from ACNE, as they have teamed up with legendary artist William Wegman to create seven shots of Weimaraner dogs wearing Resort 2013, Womens Spring Summer 2013 and Mens Spring Summer 2013.
William Wegman is best known for his photographs of his Weimaraner dogs, as he started shooting his pups back in the 1970s when his first Weimaraner, Man Ray, kept getting in the way of the shots. He then started experimenting, wrapping the pooches in fabric and giving them each their own character. He has put his dogs in pink wigs and zebra sunnies, had them playing a guitar and drowned in oversized coats.
For the ACNE project Wegmen styled the dogs in an oversized Spring 2013 skirt, mens boater hats and shirts and jackets in the Resort currency print. How very fash-ion. The creative director Jonny Johansson said: 'I'm a big fan of William Wegman's work, its beauty, witty humour and intelligence but also what it says about identity and culture. I always thought it would be interesting to work on a project together. The outcome is beyond all expectation.'

Doggies are now the latest it-models, as Harvey Nichols brought a new meaning to the term 'doggy bag' using Spud, Pepper and Dozer, three fabulously turned out hounds, to model a Philip Lim, a Sophie Hulme and a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. Poodles walked the runway at Mulberry at London Fashion Week, while dogs were THE accessory at Agi & Sam at the London Collections Men. Models watch out, at this rate pets will steal all the big ad campaigns.
So what is with this doggy obsession? Well it probably has something to do with designers and their love of their doggies - as Tom Ford, Jonathon Saunders and Roberto Cavalli are all proud dog owners. Donatella Versace told Grazia in our Big Fashion Issue that her Jack Russell Audrey is her best friend and her boss and stated that ‘Audrey is not a dog.' Of course Audrey is no ordinary dog as she dresses ear to tail in Versace and sleeps in a leopard print bed.
