Jennifer Lawrence has been a Dior delight on red carpets across the world during the promotional tour for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. But J-Law isn’t the only person coming up on our red carpet radar, step forward her co-star Jena Malone!
For those not familiar with the star, in the Hunger Games sequel Jena, aged 29, plays Johanna Mason one of the rivals for the ultimate Hunger Games crown. But for many of you this won’t be your first glimpse of the actress, she starred alongside everyone’s favourite hunk, Jake Gyllenhaal in Donnie Darko and wait for it… she also played the daughter in the weepie of all weepie films, Step Mom! Consider that your fact of the day!

The Hunger Games promotional tour has been quite a drastic garment gear change for Jena and it appears the reason for the fash-over is due to the fact she has employed stylist Karla Welch. Karla Welch is one half of the power house styling double act with Kemal Harris, who were crowned the fifth most powerful stylists by the Hollywood Reporter this year. The title was earned through their work with the young starlet, Hailee Steinfeld, Olivia Wilde, the kooky Zooey Deschanel and Justin Bieber no less!
It all started right back in July this year when Jena appeared at the Comic Con Hunger Games event wearing a Roland Mouret blue jumpsuit with cut out details which even put Jennifer Lawrence in the style shade. Then came a seductive reveal and conceal Nicholas Oakwood couture glitter gown at the LA premiere, a full on fashion find in the form of Valentino at the New York premiere and even a little bit of high street appeared in the form of a printed fitted ASOS dress at the London photo call. The stand-out looks haven’t stopped short of the red carpet, after landing at LAX this week Jena wore a slit skirt and crop top combo which showed that her off duty work is worthy of as much attention.

The looks have been teamed with one very versatile Barnet. For the start of the promotional tour Jena chopped off the long dark locks and dyed the hair a shade of blonde to create a hair look which gives a certain amount of edge to red carpet dressing. The blunt bob has gone from sleek and severe on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to ruffled and grungy in Miami Mall and up and sophisticated for the New York premiere. Plus there is always the flick of the eye for a touch of drama.
With a series of style statements Jena has held her own alongside the Dior dresses of Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Bank’s Alexander McQueen love affair, which has spilled over onto the red carpet from her on screen character’s love affair with the brand. The best bit is Jena is only just getting going…
