The Fashion Interview: Jeremy Scott On Dressing Cara Delevingne And Katy Perry

04 April 2013 by

Jeremy Scott inhabits his very own style island, far, far away from big business fashion. Since his first collection in 1997, he’s delighted his band of obsessively loyal fans with four sleeved sweaters, pink poodle sneakers and a catalogue of pop princess costumes worn by the likes of Rihanna, Britney, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj.

Interview: Jeremy Scott on Cara Delevingne, Katy Perry and his Adidas Originals Collaboration

Jeremy Scott For Adidas Originals

In this week’s issue of Grazia we interview the Mid-Western designer and hear how he’s keeping the rebel spirit alive for the new generation of pop culture fans. From his new muse Cara Delevingne to his on-going collaboration with Adidas (the newest collection of Jeremy Scott for Adidas Originals is in UK stores now), Scott gives us a 360 of his bonkers world.

Some of our favourite quotes from the interview are as follows:

What we can expect of Mr Scott in the coming months:

“I’ll be doing more of the same, just turning up the volume. I’m coming to London to launch a baby stroller. It’s perfect for the new royal baby – who wouldn’t love to see Kate Middleton pushing my pram wearing a pair of poodle sneakers?

His thoughts on the fashion industry:

“I feel really sad about it to be honest– there has just been so much blurring, so you can’t tell one designer from the other. When people don’t have that much disposable income, the thing that they need more is the thing that they don’t have. I’ve proven it with my Adidas line – I can sell out a new shoe in less than 24 hours because no-one has sneakers with a pink poodle with sunglasses.”

The benefits fo his collaboration with Adidas:

“Adidas has allowed me to bring my ideas to such a global scale without having to compromise. It’s been clear evidence that people want stronger fashion, something special but made accessible and affordable.”
