With winter setting in there is literally nothing more satisfying than curling up on the sofa with a good TV show, which is why we are more than a little bit excited that The Face launches next week. And today we were lucky enough to head down to London’s Royal Opera House to get a sneak preview of the second episode, which airs on Sky Living, as well as getting to ogle at the shows oh-so-beautiful judges Naomi Campbell, Erin O’Connor and Caroline Winberg.
Now whilst we don’t want to give too much away, we will say this: THE SHOW IS AMAZING. Naomi is fabulous and fierce, Erin is utterly flawless and Caroline has a secret vengeful side we really wouldn’t have expected. The format is simple, out of hundreds of girls the judges pick 4 models each, their teams then compete against each other week on week with one unlucky girl going home at the end of each episode.

In the one episode that we saw there were tears, tantrums and a rather dodgy looking plastic chicken. From magazine shoots, to campaigns the girls get to experience everything the modelling world has to offer with some pretty major tutorials from three of the industry’s most famous faces all in the hope of bagging themselves a coveted Max Factor contract at the end of the show.
Speaking at the launch Naomi, who was wearing a white Alexander McQueen suit, explained, ‘I’m very competitive, it’s a competition between us as well as between the girls. I don’t ever want to hear the word loser.’ Naomi went on to say that she tries to nuture her girls to be their own model like her mother did for her, ‘I never wanted to emulate anyone. What my mother taught me was, ‘you take what I’m teaching and you do it your way.’
In fact, the supermodel's tough love attitude could rival even X Factor's Mr Nasty. 'I am the drill sergeant and I'm tough love with my girls,' she said. 'I push them to their limits.' When host Nick Grimshaw quipped that she makes 'Simon Cowell look like a wuss!', Naomi was delighted. 'Really? Good!' she said before bursting into peals of laugher.
Erin described her mentoring style when she said, ‘I’m patient, I try to be encouraging and I’m tall – they like to go in for the hug because of my height.’ Whilst Caroline said, ‘I’m quite caring and I encourage my girls to have fun.’ So which team will you be, Naomi, Erin or Caroline, well, you’ll have to watch to find out…
If you’re as excited as we are about this show (you should be) you can catch the first episode on Monday 30th September, 9pm on Sky Living. AND if that's not enough, Naomi - yes, THE Naomi Campbell - is blogging for yours truly week by week giving her insider insight into each episode. You don't wanna miss it.
