The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are having a very lovie week indeed. Last night Prince William attended the BAFTA Awards to present Dame Helen Mirren with her BAFTA fellowship (and was referred to jokingly as Mirren's nephew by host Stephen Fry) and tonight Kate attended an actors' reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by HRH the Queen.
While the royal couple are yet to make an official public appearance together in 2014, this evening Kate played wing woman to William's grandmother as she welcomed the cream of the crop of British acting talent into the Palace to honour the dramatic arts. Guests included Dame Helen Mirren (her second royal meeting of the week), Benedict Cumberbatch and David Tennant, as well as Helena Bonham Carter, Joely Richardson and Joan Collins.

Kate chose a red Alexander McQueen dress for the occasion - the same frock that she wore for the Queen's Jubilee Pageant. That dress has since been worn by singer Tulisa and and reality star Kim Kardashian, so perhaps the Duchess is attempting to reclaim it as her own. She teamed the showstopping red dress with black pumps and a black clutch hangbag.
Kate and the Queen will greeted 250 guests before watching a series of short performances in the Ballroom.

It was royal style icon's third official appearance of the year so far after attending a gala at the National Portrait gallery and an event for the Art Room at Northolt High School in Ealing last week.
