The BRIT-ish Museum: The 20 Most Memorable Outfits From The Brit Awards Archive

The Brit Awards has a history of shocking onstage antics (Jarvis Cocker anyone?) and even more shocking frocks on the red carpet. Some of our favourite ever Brits moments are those involving elaborate costumes and stunning designer dresses that can guarantee that a musical act or A-list attendee will grab the headlines the following day. Geri Halliwell's union jack dress will always be the thing that she's most remembered for (besides that yoga phase) and when Scarlett Johansson wore Roberto Cavalli to the ceremony in 2004 she made grown rock stars weak at the knees. Last year Taylor Swift showed Harry Styles exactly what he was missing when she whipped off her dress to reveal a sheer playsuit during her performance of 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and Gemma Arterton represented British design talent in a Jonathan Saunders sequined number as she walked the red carpet.

We won't have to wait long to see what's in store for us this year, as the stars have already started arriving, but for now check out the best and worst looks from the Brit Awards archive...
