Cannes Is Coming! Let's Get Excited By Remembering The Best Ever Dresses

08 May 2014 by

If there's one thing you can guarantee from the Cannes Film Festival, it's an abundance of beautiful photos of beautiful people in beautiful dresses so you can bet your bottom dollar we're excited. It's like watching the Oscars red carpet, but for two whole weeks.

The 2014 frockathon kicks off on Wednesday and we'll be bringing you daily updates from the South of France right here on Grazia Daily. Sofia Coppola has bagged the prestigious job as juror on this year's judging panel so we can expect an array of Marc Jacobs numbers from the super-cool director - but who else will be putting in their bid for best dresser?

For starters, the long-delayed 'Grace of Monaco' will open the festival and is sure to kick off the glitzy shenanigans in style, not least because Cannes Queen Nicole Kidman will be centre stage. Ryan Gosling's much-anticipated directorial debut 'How To Catch A Monster' will also be hitting the film festival, which means a whole lot of swooning from us lady folk.

And on the fashion front, we can expect gowns from the film's stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes. Also on the besuited man front, we can expect a dapper Robert Pattinson appearance as two of his films - 'Maps To The Stars' and 'The Rover' - are on the billing.

Speaking of RPattz, the British hottie is set to come face-to-face with his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart who will be showcasing 'Clouds Of Sils Maria' alongside co-stars Juliette Binoche and Chloë Grace Moretz. Now that KStew's the face of Chanel, we imagine she'll be packing one or two frocks courtesy of Karl. Jessica Chastain, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard are also set to provide us with some faaaabulous fashion moments.

Incase this hasn't got you suitably excited, we've trawled through the picture archives to bring you some of the best dresses that have EVER graced the Cannes red carpet. So take a look through the gallery above and let the Cannes countdown begin...

The 2014 Cannes Film Festival runs from 14 to 25 May
