As NYFW kicks off we thought we'd offer up a quick round up of the bushfire topics circulating around the fashion industry right now. From catwalk babies to snow storms, it's all go on the FROW.....
1. Alexander Wang’s Show
Aside from the fact that last season’s Liberty-Ross-on-the-Wang-catwalk-during-that-scandal moment was one of our favourite runway spots of the season (Ms Ross is currently in NYC…so who knows if a reprise is on the cards), all eyes will be in Mr Wang to see how he is coping with his first season as dual head of his own label and Balenciaga.
His appointment at the French luxury label in the wake of Nicholas Ghesquiere’s exit, has been questioned by many an industry insider. Does Wang possess the mettle to cope with running both his young namesake label while handling the extreme pressure of debuting at Balenciaga under the fiercely critical gaze of the entire industry? And what will Wang’s NYC show tell us about his intentions as Balenciaga…? We hope the 26 year old designer has been quaffing plenty of Berocca.

2. The ‘Big Daddy’ Snow Storm
Never known for its balmy climes during the A/W show season, this year NYC is going through a serious freeze with up to a foot of snow forecast. Some of the US cable networks are currently in paroxysms of doom however, other meteorology sites (including the BBC) are only predicting rain…Will journalists be grounded? Will it be like Sandy all over again? Or is it all a major hooha? The one plus point is that sheer look that was all over the catwalks is unlikely to gain any street style traction in the snow – which is something we can all be thankful for.
3. The Starry FROW
NYC may not be the crucible of fashion new-ness, but boy does it give razzamataz. Key to this glam factor is the stardust sprinkled on the FROW – with A-listers closing the seats, it’d often hard to keep your eyes on the clothes. Calvin Klein is always a sure-bet for Hollywood magic – last season’s trio of Emma Stone, Diane Kruger & Amy Adams was a zinger – while we also enjoyed spotting Kirsten Dunst at Rodarte and L’Alba at Ralph Lauren. This season we are mostly hoping that Kristen Stewart appears for a FROW session. Maybe at Wang to prove her brand loyalty to his new gig at Balenciaga…

4. Milk Studios
Milk Studios has been the hub of the emerging designer scene at NYFW, but in recent seasons there have been few talents to properly emerge. Sure we all love Creatures of the Wind, Suno and Joseph Altuzarra, but with young designers choosing London as their first stop and even migrating from the NYC skedge to the British capital – take hot new brand Ostwald Helgason for example – the question is what has happened to the New York underground and how can the city get its cool back?

5. The Parties
So far on our dance-card we have Miu Miu and Altuzaara & MAC, but in the city that never sleeps, there’s sure to be plenty of opportunities to get our groove on. Watch out NYC.
6. The Street Style Stars
What would fashion week be like without the dazzle of the street fashion celebs? ADR, Giovanna, Susie and Taylor T-H will of course be out in force – but we wonder how the hell they are going to cope with the driving snow. We shall be keeping our eyes peeled for frosty dressing tips!

7. Marc Jacobs
It goes without saying that MJ show at the Lexington Armoury will be a highlight of NYFW – but it will be extra interesting to see what he has up his sleeve this season. With supposed negotiations going on behind the scenes over his Louis Vuitton contract renewal, Jacobs will be doubtless keen to prove his relevance anew. So will we seeing bonkers Jacobs – think bag lady/crazy hats a la A/W 2012 – or the more retail friendly Jacobs – think monochrome and stripes as we saw last season?
8. Chloe Sevigny For Opening Ceremony
Chloe’s partnership with OC is longstanding, so it’s nothing spanking new, but we are always psyched to see New York’s hippest chick working with our favourite downtown store.
9. Anna ‘n’ Grace
Sightings of the bob and orange curls from the front, behind or sides always makes us quiver slightly. Anna and Grace rule NYC – and even a cat may look at a Queen….look and slyly Instagram obviously.

10. FROW Kids
Tiddlers on the front row offer a welcome shot of reality to the fash week craziness. Cooing over toddlers is obviously far preferable to jostling with the hoi polloi. We’ve already seen Harper Beckham fly out to NYC with VB, so hopefully she’ll make an appearance while Skyler Berman is a shoo-in at Rachel Zoe. We’d also love to spot Alexander Wang’s niece Alia, who in our mind is the true toddler style maven.
