We Bring You Taylor Swift's 8 Outfit Changes In New Video 'Shake It Off'

19 August 2014 by

Is that the sound of teen hysteria we hear? Yesterday Taylor Swift did a Beyonce-style album announcement - during her Yahoo live stream she spilled on her new album 1989 (out October 27), released the album cover and played the video to her new song 'Shake It Off.' Trust us, you won't be able to shake off this new Swift anthem.

We think we've worked out what Taylor has been doing on those daily gym trips: (dad) dancing, (dad) dancing and more (dad) dancing. Taylor moves between a number of dance disciplines in the video - shaking it off in a Swan Lake style tutu, a Bob Fossy all black ensemble and Lady Gaga gold sequins.

In some ways it's so very Taylor. The video starts off with Taylor singing about the music in her mind while wearing a pale pink cat sweatshirt. Taylor also got dozens of fans involved, chosen by Instagram, Twitter, fan letters. Taylor said in her Yahoo live stream: "They have kept the secret that they were in this music video for two months."

Taylor's style often changes depending on her album and/or boyfriend. Taylor said of her style for the new album: "As a songwriter and just as a person I try to be really open to inspiration, whether I am walking down the street in New York and see someone wearing something cool I am effected by those things. In the same way as you have to be vulnerable to new emotions and painful emotions and great emotions and let those things into your songwriting. I kind of let the same thing happen with fashion, and what you'll find is you'll experiment with things you weren't comfortable before."

She added: "I am very organised in weird ways and I kind of like to be able to look back at an old picture and see my hair and what I'm wearing and say "oh that is the second album." So that's that."

So far it looks like she has been influenced by her friends for this album. There's no Harry Styles headband in sight. There's something rather Karlie Kloss about the ballet interlude, her barre basics and the black ankle-grazers and flats combo.

In the livestream Taylor announced her new album, 1989, which she calls her "first documented, official pop album," inspired by late 80s pop music.  "I really loved the chances they were taking. I loved how bold it was," she said. "It was, apparently, a time of limitless potential. … The idea of endless possibility was kind of a theme in the last year of my life." A deluxe album version will also include three voice memos Taylor recorded on her phone.
