This morning, we thought the biggest drama of New York Fashion Week would be tackling the icy streets in towering Jimmy Choos. But oh no. Instead, it was a near-naked streaker that caused a stir when he swooped onto the Prabal Gurung catwalk wearing little more than a leopard-print thong. Yup.
It was at Moynihan Station on Saturday morning when the designer presented another beautifully feminine collection for Autumn Winter 2013. Against a backdrop of giant golden cymbals, Eastern-inspired pieces included floor-sweeping gowns in crimson red, oversized coats and luxe wrap-around layers in greys and whites perfect for the city chill - but the spectacle was rudely interrupted when a man ran in front of the models wearing a black robe, red socks and, err, gold crown. Within seconds, he had disrobed to expose his own crown jewels.

Gasps were heard from the front row (where the likes of Hailee Steinfeld and Carolina Herrera sat), photographers angrily shouted at the man, whose identity is not yet known, and a livestream of the show was immediately stopped. A security guard rushed to the catwalk to chase after him, but the cheeky offender darted backstage having already made a spectacle of himself in full view of the city's fashion royalty. Needless to say, no one was amused.
Whether intending to cause a Twitter frenzy or make a statement remains to be seen, but whatever his aims, the stunt didn’t ruin the show itself. Ever professional, the models carried on stomping, barely batting an eyelid, and a smiling Prabal Gurung appeared at the end of the show to take his bow to much applause. The show must go on!
