Harvey Nichols Reminds Us To Think Of Ourselves This Christmas With 'Sorry, I Spent It On Myself!' Ad

Harvey Nichols might just win the award for the best Christmas ad of 2013, as their 'Sorry, I Spent It On Myself' ad is sheer genius. We've all been there - you're in a department store searching for a tie for Dad, when you spot the most delicious pair of Louboutins. 'One for them, one for me' is a thing, right? Well Harvey Nichols thinks so.

This year's Harvey Nics ad focuses on gifting number one, with family members unwrapping tooth picks and elastic bands on Christmas Day as shoppers have blown the budget on Lanvin and Givenchy. Harvey Nics are serious about this message, as they have launched a 'Sorry I Spent It On Myself' collection including biro pens, door stops, authentic Lincolnshire gravel, Christmas lunch in a tin and a sink plug. As the boy in the ad says about his nan's 'designer' paper clips: 'I don't think anyone has ever got you anything from Harvey Nichols before.'

On their website, a whizzy tool comes up with a gift for them and a gift for you. Biro pen for them, Maison Martin Margiela handbag for me. Toothbrush for them, Celine sunnies for me. Tinned food for them, Givenchy sweatshirt for me.

3. Cadburys

An residential street gets a Cadburys makeover as the terraced houses are covered in 2,500 metres of purple paper, 60ft of printed tape and giant 18ft bows. It's the stuff of dreams.

4. Morrisons

The stars of this ad are Ant, Dec and an animated gingerbread man. The presenters are treated to a mind-blowing Christmas feast to a re-worked 'Be Our Guest' soundtrack, proving that 'with little dough you can put on a show.'

5. Debenhams

This beautiful, romantic ad features a grey tailored coat by Jonathan Saunders, a show-stopping jumpsuit by Julien MacDonald and cute knits by Henry Holland. It'll make you want to take up ice skating.
