We caught up with former supermodel Sophie Dahl, who has designed a limited edition Sky+HD 2TB box, to talk about her style evolving since becoming a mother, working with Erin O'Connor and her biggest fashion regrets.
Grazia Daily: How would you describe your style?
Sophie Dahl: An eclectic mishmash. I've got two very young children so it's often a jumper over a nightie over boots. It has its moments where it's redeemable. It's pretty English really.
Grazia Daily: Has your style changed since becoming a mother?
Sophie Dahl: Yes because I don't have time to think about it as much. As you get older you develop a uniform, and you do know what looks good. Mine is sweater dresses and thick tights and ballerina flats or boots.
Grazia Daily: Is there one item in your wardrobe you can't live without?
Sophie Dahl: I have a little dress from APC that I wear all the time, it's like a grown up school uniform and I wear it with tights and flats during the day and sometimes at night with heels.
Grazia Daily: High street or designer.
Sophie Dahl: A really healthy mix of the two. Because of years spent modelling I've got a lot of stuff in my closet already so I don't really buy designer clothes and when I'm shopping I tend to buy high street. I love Alice Temperley, Erdem, Christopher Kane and Bella Freud. She's really good at the uniform. On the high street I feel like I'm getting too old for Topshop but I live in their jeans. I also love Whistles tea dresses.
Grazia Daily: Do you have any fashion regrets from over the years?
Sophie Dahl: Oh yes! In my late teens I was wearing vintage nighties out with push up bras and boudoir slippers with fluffy bits. I have no idea where the inspiration for that came from but it was not a good look.
Grazia Daily: Whose style do you admire?
Sophie Dahl: I like the sixties and love Jean Shrimpton and Julie Christie.
Grazia Daily: Would you ever think about doing a comeback on the catwalk?
Sophie Dahl: I wouldn't because I can't walk in a straight line! I never could and I don't think anyone needs to see it. I miss that camaraderie. When I was modelling in my early twenties I was working with Karen Elson, Erin O'Connor and Jade Parfitt and we were all in New York and it was really fun. That was my university, they were my student years and I'm always thrilled to see those women and catch up. I get to occasionally dip my toe in which is perfect.
Grazia Daily: What are you watching on TV at the moment?
Sophie Dahl: Boardwalk Empire, Game Of Thrones, and I'm about to discover Breaking Bad. Everyone says it's amazing.
