Solange Knowles Performs At Field Day In Clashing Monochrome Prints, But Does The Singer Wear Bright Colours Better? Vote Now!

Soul sista Solange Knowles cannot put a fashion foot wrong in our eyes, but her outfit at London's Field Day festival yesterday did leave us with a lingering question. The singer took to the stage wearing three clashing monochrome prints and pulling off major seventies rock star swagger in the process, however, as Solange is a style diva renowned for her ability to mix bold hues with aplomb, we started to wonder whether we prefer Beyonce’s little sister in black and white or Technicolor. Further investigation was required…

A lot of red carpet stars tend to fall back on monochrome as a 'safe' option. Not Solange. She uses a pared-back pallet to clash prints and experiment with difficult shapes and silhouettes including oversized, masculine pieces. From geometric patterned smocks to colour blocking short suits and sandals, the ‘Losing You’ singer does monochrome head to toe, with the only pop of colour appearing on her perfectly puckered lips.

Meanwhile on brighter days Solange's wardrobe looks like a tropical fruit bowl, sometimes quite literally. Citrus shades, punchy pink grapefruits and burnt oranges combine to really lift the style spirit and where her outfit leads, the accessories follow. From her clutches to her stilettos, when Solange colour clashes, she means business, and when she clashes prints she pin points common patterns to avoid the jumble sale vibe.
