We can’t say that Sarah Jessica Parker calling us at our desk on a Wednesday afternoon is a regular occurrence but it did happen this week. We know, we know. Calling in from New York City, Sarah Jessica, who has been a very busy lady in the last few weeks launching her shoe line SJP,chatted to Grazia Daily about animated film Escape From Planet Earth in which she voices Kira Supernova and the joy of not having to sit in hair and make-up every day.
Grazia Daily: Was it liberating not having to do hair and make-up every day?
SJP: It was fantastic, It’s just such a different experience, the day is so different, there’s not any vanity involved. You’re being overly expressive and moving your body around in a studio by yourself. If someone came and watched you it would be strange. It is nice not to spend two hours in hair and make-up and be touched up or be concerned about that or have anyone else be concerned about that. It’s literally just the story telling on its own that important.
Grazia Daily: How does working on an animated film differ?
SJP: It’s a completely different process in every possible way! You’re not being filmed, you’re being recorded and it’s a very wonderfully monotonous experience, and I’m not being sarcastic. It’s very repetitive work, but it’s really interesting. And of course you’re not in hair and make-up which is always nice.

Grazia Daily: How long did the whole process take?
SJP: It’s a very long process. Some animated movies take years and years and this took a year.
Grazia Daily: What were your highlights?
SJP: I enjoyed the whole thing. I thought the people directing and producing were fantastic and always gave you really smart notes and great adjustments. I genuinely liked the script so playing that part was a delight to come in and be silly and be real. I loved the entire experience!
