It's the most wonderful week of the (fashion) year - when couture comes to Paris! In the sunshine! Grazia's Fashion Director Susannah Frankel is on her way to the French capital to report from the front row of the Couture A/W 2013 shows so stay tuned to Grazia's twitter feed for the latest news. In the meantime, here are the things we're really looking forward to....
1. Viktor & Rolf's return to couture
The design duo haven't been present at Couture for 13 years so there's much hype around their return to Paris. Not least because the Dutchmen know how to put on a theatrical show. In one such production model Kristen McMenamy wore 20 outfits at once. No wonder experimental A-listers like Katy Perry and Jessica Chastain are fans.
2. The Chanel set
Karl Lagerfeld knows that couture might be about designing for his most exclusive and wealthy customers, but it's also about putting on a dream-like show for the rest of the watching world. Hence the amazing levels of detail that go into his couture show sets. Last time he created an entire forest in the Grand Palais for his Midsummer Night's Dream inspired collection. Can he top that this time? Of course he can...
3. Lacroix's tribute to Schiaperelli
One of the master couturier's Christian Lacroix is also making a comeback of sorts by doing a tribute capsule collection for the relaunch of the Schiaparelli couture house. Lacroix will recreate 15 of Elsa Schiaparelli's most iconic looks - think the hourglass, A-line, sari and bustle shapes - in the passageway where the first Schiaparelli boutique was.
4. Fabulous street style from the Russian fashion mavericks
Keep an eye out for Russian street style goddesses Ulyana Sergeenko (left) and Elena Perminova (right) who always attend Couture. Ulyana is a photographer and designer in her own right, famous for her babuska inspired look. Meanwhile Elena is married to media mogul Alexander Lebedev and has a look that she says revolves around "feathers and hats".
5. Seeing what Raf Simons does at Dior
This will be Raf's third Couture show since taking over from Galliano at Dior but everyone will still be looking to the man credited with modernising the craft to see what direction he takes. At his Couture debut everyone from Marc Jacobs to Diane von Furstenberg were sitting front row - and Hollywood A-listers were taking note. Who can forget that Dior gown Jennifer Lawrence wore to pick up her Oscar?
6. Young US A-listers getting heady in Paris
Every year there's a new set of young, hot actresses/musicians on the front row at Couture - who can't help instagramming their excitement at being in Paris surrounded by all those beautiful clothes. So far the winner is actress Emma Roberts who'll be front row at the Versace show but has spent today gallavanting around the capital, in true tourist style. Cute!
