Lady Gaga nervous? Never. But, apparently, it happened. The popstrel has confessed that she was anxious about unveiling the artwork for her new album ARTPOP, which has just landed (admire it above). Admittedly, it may be because Gagaloo is posing entirely starkers, legs akimbo and breasts in hand, with a strategically placed blue ball, but then we've seen worse. Right?
[Lady Gaga Twitter]
The image, which was created by American artist Jeff Koons, was shared on Twitter yesterday with Gaga saying, 'FULL ARTPOP ALBUM COVER. One second I'm a Koons, then suddenly the Koons is me!'. Moments before the grand reveal, the singer said she was in 'full fetal position does anyone else hear the screams in my head' and 'I'm nervous&excited to share something that's such a piece of my heart. Something I cherish deeply. A real depiction of my mind through his.' Ah, good old Gaga off on one again.
The background image consists of pieces of Sandro Botticelli's 1486 painting 'The Birth of Venus'. Is Gaga comparing herself to the famous goddess? Venus is seen emerging from the sea as a fully grown woman in the classic 1486 painting so the comparison makes sense considering Gaga has talked of staging another incarnation as part of the ARTPOP extravanganza.
And just in case you weren't convinced that this is all about art, dahling, the new image will be exhibited on November 10th at the artRAVE ARTPOP's release party, the day before the album is released. Get your haughty looks at the ready...
13 July 2013: She’s Baaack! Lady Gaga Announces New Album
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta aka Lady Gaga - nursing an injury and working on her new album she has been unusally absent form the spotlight. But now her fans have been treated to not only news of her upcoming third album, but also a duo of classic Gaga ensembles.
Lady Gaga Released This Image of Her Upcoming ARTPOP album
Of course with it being Gaga, this is no ordinary album release. Instead she announced on her social networking site, littlemonsters.com that she will be launching an App called ARTPOP which she describes as, “a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion, and technology with a new interactive worldwide community — “the auras”…- a reverse Warholian expedition.” The App will also supposedly, “Explore Gaga’s existence as a cultural interface, allowing the user to share in the ‘adrenaline of fame’.” Told you it was Gaga-esque in proportion!
In addition Gaga announced that the fist single from her album, also titled ARTPOP will be released on 19th August, while the album itself will be available for pre-order on 1st September and will be released on 11th November.
Gaga Flashes Some Bra Action in New York
And to help build the buzz around her comeback, Ms Gaga has stepped out in two outfits, which help remind us of her fashion fabulousness. Firstly we spotted her working an Alexander McQueen dress at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. Purchased for a whopping £79,250 from an auction of Daphne Guinness’ wardrobe, held to fundraise to support an exhibition of her friend Isabella Blow’s style, the dress is part of fashion history. Then Gaga reminded us of her saucy music videos – who can forget the jail scenes in Telephone – by moseying through the streets of New York in a skin-tight mini and bra combo, topped of with a pair of her signature vertiginous heels.
All we can say is Gaga, we’ve missed you. In celebration of the Lady’s style we’ve put together a selection of her most outrageous outfits in the gallery below. Click, click, click!
