Once the face of Emporio Armani underwear and now his own line for H&M, Beckham’s golden balls have definitely earned themselves some serious dollar over the years. Who can resist David body oiled to the maximum with rope suggestively tied around him in his most monumental Emporio campaign? Most recently, under the direction of Guy Richie, Becks was seen casually running around LA like a true action hero in his tightest pair of undies, even making time for a dip in the neighbour’s pool, for his latest H&M body wear commercial. Some sceptics claimed that David had a body double for those close up bum shots. Pfftttt! Do they not realise he’s is just simply one of the hottest men alive?!

Arguably the body which started underwear’s love affair with the celebrity, Mark Wahlberg set billboards on fire in the 1990s with his toned physique. Fresh out of New Kids on the Block, when Marky Mark wasn’t grabbing onto his crotch he was being grabbed by Kate Moss - all in the name of shifting undies of course (we are adopting a completely objective, very professional approach to this piece).

Emporio stuck crotch gold again with the Portuguese Adonis Cristiano Ronaldo. Images of Ronaldo in fashwan poses including a Gagaesque hand over the face and a bucket of water being thrown against his inhuman six pack were accompanied by a short advert entitled ‘Housekeeping’ in which a flustered French style maid stumbles across the footballer in his tinys. The flirty maid then hides his tee - truly a girl after our own hearts. With this campaign, Cristiano went from zero to hero in our estimations. Now where’s that bucket of water?

Surely this is one of the most iconic tighty whitey ads in recent times - thank you, Dolce and Gabbana. The Gandy wore underwear in both campaign shoots and more, err, ‘intimate’ shots. You might have to Google those yourself as otherwise this article would have to be HEAVILY censored.

In the early noughties the Swedish demi-god Freddie Ljungberg was hailed as the new Becks. Perhaps without the same longevity but with the bod to match, Freddie left females across the globe a little hot under the collar. Not sure about that panther tattoo though, but then again no one is perfect…

The shopping mecca Selfridges has reported a whopping 28% boost in male underwear sales and as a result the department has been given an extra 20% in floor space. Appaz, according to economic experts, this is proof that we are not heading towards a triple dip recession - hoorah. Now, Grazia Daily is not ones to perv (honest) but we want to celebrate this news in the most fitting manner: by bringing together our five favourite celebrity endorsements for male underwear of all time, from David Beckham for Emporio Armani to Mark Wahlberg setting billboards on fire in the 1990s. You'll find them in the gallery above but be warned, you may just have to grab something to fan yourself down with first…
