Alexa Chung might be famous for her hipster school girl style, wearing dungarees, breton tees and ballet flats. But what did she look like as an actual child? Has she always been a fan of a peter pan collar? The Chungster has bagged the cover of New York Time Out - an impressive feat for a former T4 presenter. The shoot is classic Chung, as she has shaggy tousled waves and is wearing mint, collars and buttoned up shirts.
As for the poses the shoot looks like it's straight off her instagram feed as she has her hands in a heart shape, poses in a cloud of confetti and even sits on the floor cuddling a keyboard. A kooky prop is an essential ingredient of a hipster instagram, don't ya know. But when did she turn into a hipster goddess? Did she have an awkward teenage phase? Well you're about to find out...
To celebrate Chungster's big cover we delved into the photog archives to dig up some pictures of Alexa as a little cutey before she had her own it-bag, TV show, clothing line and famous pals. Luckily Alexa Chung is a fan of a flashback friday instagram, so we had plenty of material to wade through.
We've found an old school photo (unfortunately she keeps her mouth firmly shut so we can't see if she had a gappy, bracey smile), a picture of her at the riding stables and some early modelling shots. The cutest picture is of Alexa and her brother Dom - we heart their matching grey sweatshirts.
As for her style, we couldn't find any denim dungarees or breton tees but she is wearing a peter pan collar and has a similar fringe + shaggy crop. So it seems some of her style staples are in the Chung DNA.
