Living in Carrie Bradshaw’s old NY apartment must be a double-edged sword. On one hand, you get to live in a gorgeous West Village townhouse (that was definitely too nice for Carrie to actually afford on her one-column-a-week wages, but whatevs) which has the added bonus that it featured on one of the most iconic TV shows of all time. On the other hand, you have to contend with an endless stream of tourists taking selfies on your steps while brandishing over-iced cupcakes.
In fact, the residents of 66 Perry St. have got so fed up with SATC fans crowding their door that they’ve installed a chain across the step which warns, ‘Do NOT go on staircase please.’ You’d think they’d make an exception for actual Sarah Jessica Parker, but apparently not.
She’s got into hot water after staging an unauthorised photo-shoot for her new shoe line outside Carrie’s old pad. Awks. Posting on Instagram earlier this month, Carrie posed outside the apartment with her shoes, and wrote,‘It was take your @sjpcollection shoes to work day. #longdayforCarrie #whewwwwthosesteps #runninginheels #taxi!’
A source told Page Six, ‘The owners are up in arms as they deal with relentless tourists, and SJP has ignored their requests for an explanation on how she could endorse the shoot, even though ‘no trespassing’ signs are posted. SJP used their house during the years of filming, and now won’t acknowledge that she and her company used the steps and facade, this time without permission, to promote her shoe line.’
Looks like if the rumoured SATC 3 film materialises, Carrie might have to steer clear of her old neighbourhood…
