Downing Street London Fashion Week

Samantha Cameron kicked off London Fashion Week in style with a star-studded fashion event at Downing Street last night. Donatella Versace jetted in from Milan for the event, Salma Hayek came from Paris and the Brit designers took a break from their studios to celebrate the start of the shows. (Well you wouldn't turn down an invite to No. 10, would you?). Wearing a long lace dress by one of her favourite British designers Alessandra Rich, Cameron paid tribute to the great talent on show this London Fashion Week as the new British Fashion Council Chairwoman Natalie Massenet gave a stirring speech. The international designers who had jetted in seemed to agree. Diane von Furstenberg was caught snapping pics of the world famous address on her iPhone and Donatella Versace said she was proud to support Brit boys Christopher Kane and JW Anderson, the newly appointed designer of her Versus show. 'He's an amazing boy,' she said, telling us she's staying in London until Monday to see both their shows. We also spotted Victoria Beckham rocking one of her own dresses and a smokey eye and Christopher Bailey looking remarkably chilled about his Burberry show on Monday. But the party didn't last for long. Frances Osbourne was spotted taking Salma Hayek and Francois Pinault on a tour of Downing Street, but the other Brit designers slipped off into the night - back to prepare for what's set to be a long week.
