The London Based Designer, Sadie Williams Has Designed A London Fashion Week Ready Wardrobe for Barbie (Barbie)

Come on Barbie lets go party in… Sadie Williams! That’s right ladies the plastic fantastic icon has collaborated with another designer to kit out her wardrobe all in time for London Fashion Week. #handy

The London based designer’s collection for Barbie and her BFFs sees the dolls transform into  tomboy princesses in A-line gowns. Eat your heart out Mulan, you may have had a talking dragon but our favourite plastic pal has some serious shimmer and sparkle. As the designer herself says, "I wanted to create a Barbie gang of ultra princessy tomboys.  I've always been a bit of a tomboy, and at the same time I love dressing up.  I wanted my Barbies to encapsulate these playful elements by creating special shimmering gowns, each a one-off featuring my hand worked textiles."

For inspiration Sadie turned to vintage sports clothing, graphic Amish quilts and the abstract shapes of Frank Stella’s paintings for inspiration. The resulting five pintsize gowns will go on sale this Friday in the Selfridges Barbie boutique on the opening day of London Fashion Week, priced at £120 each.

Can we move in Barbie? We will totally brush your hair? Life is our creation after all Barbie and life in plastic is fantasic!
