Be-hatted race goers and royalty, identikit nude heels, posh ladies clutching their pearls - oh, how we love Royal Ascot! The fun kicked off today with the clothes horses of Britain already making fine appearances. So let's play our favourite game of spot the hat, shall we?
We begin with Queenie. Her Royal Highness made a grand entrance for the first day of racing, arriving in a carriage alongside the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. She looked delightful in a pastel pink ensemble as she trotted past the stands packed with cheering punters. Camilla was just as elegant in an ivory dress teamed with a cream A-line coat and matching hat, presumably by her favourite designer Anne Valentine.
The horse-drawn procession also included Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who arrived with their father, the Duke of York. While Bea was trussed up in a belted coat of navy and white horizontal stripes, her younger sister wore a monochrome dress paired with a cropped black jacket for the occasion - plus statement hats, of course.
There's also been some starry action courtesy of Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katherine Jenkins. The opera singer chose a twisty orange and hot pink hat by Philip Treacy (who else) teamed with an equally vibrant dress. What a sight to behold!
'Hat millinery is the one true luxury left,' milliner Piers Atkinson told us at Ascot last year. 'It’s on par with couture. You know, you go in to a milliner’s studio and you work with us on creating something that is unique to you; that matches your dress and makes exactly the right statement that you want it to make.' One thing's for sure, hats are having a real moment right now.
Grazia Daily will take any excuse to wear a hat so we're at the racecourse today soaking up the champagne action too. You can follow our live updates by following @Grazia_Live on Instagram.
