Inside Roksanda Ilincic's First London Store With Laura Carmichael & Joely Richardson

11 June 2014 by

We pulled on our colour-blocking glad rags last night to join Roksanda Ilincic in celebrating the launch of the designer's first ever flagship store. The London Fashion Week stalwart hosted an intimate evening at 9 Mount Street along with her pals, including Laura Bailey, Livia Firth and Joely Richardson, who were all trussed up in the fabulous creations.

You really must check the store out for yourselves, but let us tell you this: it's truly a spectacle. Occupying two floors, the Roksanda store is housed in a stunning historic Grade 2 listed building in the heart of London’s Mayfair. In fact, it used to former art gallery and has its own garden and terrace at the back.

It was designed in conjunction with British architect David Adjaye, who Roksanda has worked with for many years and we loved the concrete walls contrasting with the rails of feminine dresses. What's more, the store sits alongside the likes of Nicholas Kirkwood, Lanvin, Carolina Herrera and Loewe. 'I wanted to create a space that was timeless, with a strong connection between art, fashion and all the creative disciplines, and with sculptural, graphic and architectural elements,' the designer told WWD. 'I also wanted something that was very luxurious — and unexpected.'

It gave us the perfect excuse for a spot of shopping too. While sipping on Absolut Elyx Vodka cocktails, we got a preview of Roksanda's Pre-Fall 2014 collection and admired the hand-knitted handbags perched on the concrete shelves.

Roksanda's fellow LFW designers also arrived to show their support. Christopher Kane, Nicholas Kirkwood and Jonathan Saunders were spotted chatting amid the canapes while Lulu Kennedy, who 'discovered' Roksanda, got the fash pack cooing thanks to her adorable daughter Rainbow, who also wore a dress from the designer. Too cute!

The development is all part of the brand's expansion, with more stores to come. The designer is re-branding her company as simply Roksanda - and we all know that equals superstar status. Click through the gallery below to see who wore what at the swanky shindig...
