A Study Of How Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart's Yo-Yo Romance Has Evolved Via Their Body Language

16 November 2012 by

As Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart arrived in Madrid to continue the promo tour for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 yesterday, we couldn't help but notice that the couple looked a tinsy bit awkward as they posed together. Admittedly, these two have never been the types to turn on flashy faux-smiles for the paps and tend to avoid PDAs, but these latest pics have got us seriously squirming. What a difference a Hollywood scandal makes, eh?

First came the photocall in the Spanish capital when K-Stew slipped her curves into a Julien Macdonald figure-flatterer and did her best to cosy up to her beleaguered boyfriend. But if Rob's facial expression is anything to go by, he was nothing but on-edge and avoiding eye contact with her. #majorawks

Then came the premiere that evening when Kristen changed into a thigh-scraping, bright yellow Dior frock teamed with killer heels and Pattzy went dapper in a sharp suit. But rather than the gooey-eyed glances we've come to expect from this teen dream couple, Rob avoided looking at his vampy co-star. Uh oh.

There's no denying that the pair must be feeling a huuuge amount of pressure with the entire world - as well as hoards of avid fans - watching their every move. But it's also undeniable that their body language is dramatically different to previous premiere outings since Twilight promo began back in 2008.

How Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's Yo-Yo Romance Has Evolved Through Their Body Language

The entity known as Robsten fast became our favourite couple as we watched their relationship blossom before our very eyes in parallel to the earth-shattering love story on-screen. Rewind to the first Twilight premiere in LA, par exemple, when their insane chemistry was clear to see [above]. They could barely take their eyes off each other and grinned from ear to ear as rumours swirled that they were more than just friends.

Then, at the MTV Awards in 2009, when R-Pattz and K-Stew had reportedly just started dating, Rob's look of love made our hearts melt. And who could forget the Eclipse premiere when they cosied up to pose for pics together? By this time, there was no denying that this was the Real. Deal. A year later, it was back on the promo tour for Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and the duo looked happier than ever as Rob swept his girl around the red carpets of the world. It was heart-warming stuff.

One thing's for sure, their yo-yo romance (or should that be yo-mance?) has been played out under the paparrazi glare so it's hard not to analyse their every look throughout the past four years - and body language really does speak a thousand words. The question is: will Robsten survive the latest awkardness and return to adorability? We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Gretchin Swade (Fri Nov 16 14:56:57 GMT 2012): I don't think it's fair to speculate on a relationship based on brief 1/30th second snaps. When you compare the above images, of course they look awkward! But I bet the person who had all the premiere images to edit through neglected to keep any of the genuine poses and instead siphoned out the ones with a couple shifting from one foot to the other.
