UPDATE: A trio of behind the scenes videos from Rihanna's campaign shoot for Balmain have just landed, giving us even more fash-tastic feistiness from the Barbadian songstress. 'Balmain has been my love for so long and now to actually get to work with them? It's brilliant,' Ri-Ri says of her latest coup.
Meanwhile the French house's Creative Director is buoyant with joy to be working with the stunner. 'A few months ago, she came to the studio and from that, I wanted to create all this collection around her,' Olivier Rousteing explains. 'She's the new icon. She mixes fashion with music and my collection is based around that.'
As for the star's natural look in the shots, makeup artist Yadim reveals that, 'the clothes are so amazing so you don't need any gimmicks especially with someone like Rihanna. She just wakes up looking amazing.' How can you go wrong? Watch the action for yourselves in the three new videos...
17 December 2013: The New Face Of Balmain? Rihanna!
Rihanna for Balmain [Balmain]
It's that time of year again when each day we are greeted by a glossy new campaign. Balmain have set the bar high this season, as they have bagged the one and only Rihanna as their new face. Can you say MAJ-OR?!
According to WWD, the ad was shot in New York by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and the images are deliciously '80s. In one shot, Rihanna works a baby pink and white printed coat nipped in by a chunky gold and white belt topped off with lace booties with fash-tastic gold heels and toe caps. And in the other, she showcases a super-sexy off-the-shoulder dress in blue with more gold chain detailing and oversized cuffs. The styling comes courtesy of Mel Ottenberg who also serves as Rihanna's personal stylist.
Of course, that Ri-Ri 'tude is firmly in place and she smoulders behind a rock'n'roll mop of black curls while posing against a swimming pool monochrome background. Talk about foxy. She makes the perfectly fierce face of the iconic Parisian brand which has seen a fresh injection of street energy since the appointment of 27-year-old creative director, Olivier Rousteing six seasons ago.
Rousteing says of his muse: 'Dreams do come true... When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete. Not compromising, fresh, modern, the icon of my generation, Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign. In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world.' Yep, the designer is absolutley chuffed by his campaign coup and has posted a series of behind the scenes snaps on his Instagram account of the sultry singer along with the hashtag #dreamsdocometrue. Indeed!

We should've seen this one coming considering just a week ago, Rousteing was sharing snaps of Ri-Ri trying on his designs along with the caption, 'WHEN I FELL IN LOVE'. And let's not forget the style icon has worn a multitude of Balmain creations from leather jogging pants to that turqouise leather skirt and the black minidress she wore to the MTV VMAs this year. What's more, the relationship has long been brewing as she sat on the brand's front row during Paris Fashion Week back in 2009.
So what do you make of Rihanna x Balmain?
