The full list of nominations for the 71st annual Golden Globes has been announced, with White Queen, Breaking Bad and Downton Abbey receiving TV nominations, and American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave and Nebraska all receiving film nominations. Marking the beginning of Award Season 2014, on January 12th 2014 the Golden Globes will see some of our favourite Hollywood actresses take to the red-carpet and all eyes on will be what they are wearing.

In Hollywoodland, the red carpet to end all red carpets is that of the Oscar Awards. The Golden Globes and BAFTAs are but a mere warm up to the Oscars which are set to take place on March 2nd 2014. There’s no other moment quite like it in the movie calendar, and the pressure to really bust out the big guns in terms of fashion is almost as great as piling on a gushing acceptance speech. A-list ladies prep and preen for this momentous evening for days, weeks… even months if they are in constant fittings with the chosen designer of their truly special, custom-made ballgown.

We've been scrolling through 2013’s best dressed red carpet looks and have selected our top 20 actresses and what we would have them wear for our dream red carpet. We’d have nominees Noamie Harris, Sandra Bullock and Lupita Nyong'o in dark, striking gowns, whilst fellow actresses Lena Dunham, Chloe Moretz and Jennifer Lawrence would be in sugary sweet frocks from Chanel, Oscar De La Renta and Dior *sigh*

Click through the gallery below to see what we put all the other ladies in as we play red carpet dress up...

GALLERY >> What The Stars Should Wear On The Red Carpet

1. Naomie Harris in Haider Ackermann

She may not be up for an award at the Golden Globes, but we're expecting the film that chronicles Nelson Mandela's life story Long Walk To Freedom to be nominated at the Oscars 2014. A striking Haider Ackermann number is just whats called for such a special red carpet moment.

2. Chloe Moretz in Chanel

Actress Chloe Moretz may not have any nominations as of yet, but as one of the most talented teen actresses of her time, Chanel Couture is the only thing that will do.

3. Sandra Bullock in Chanel

Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress for her role in film Gravity, we'd love to see Sandra go for something with a little drama, like this Chanel Couture number too.

4. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

As the face of Dior theres no doubting she will choose Dior for her upcoming red carpet events. This bright Spring/Summer 2014 dress would be our pick but who knows if the starlet will opt for something from the archives for her moment in the spotlight.

5. Lupita Nyong'o in Givenchy

New name to the red carpet Lupita Nyong'o has been nominated for the Golden Globes as Best Supporting actress for her role in 12 Years A Slave. This girl is set to become a star and what better than a striking Givenchy gown for such an important moment in this lady's career.

6. Hailee Steinfeld in Marc Jacobs

Teen star Hailee Steinfeld is no stranger to the fashion scene having previously starred as the face of Miu Miu with her controversial 'train tracks' advert for the brand. Her timeless style is perfect for this decadent Marc Jacobs dress don't you think?!

7. Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen

They don't come more statuesque than Ms. Nicole Kidman, and a killer bod (and incredible height) are perfect for this statement dress straight of the catwalk at Alexander McQueen.

8. Lena Dunham In Oscar De La Renta

Girls star Lena Dunham always looks great on the catwalk but we'd love to see her more girly side and this Oscar de La Renta dress is just divine.

9. Kerry Washington in Oscar De La Renta

Nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globes for her role in drama series Scandal, Kerry Washington would look beautiful in this regal Oscar De La Renta gown.

10. Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen

Saucy senorita Sofia Vergara knows how to work it infront of the cameras, and the lady who's TV series Modern Family is nominated at the Golden Globes for Best Series needs nothing more than a strapless, fish-tail gown to show off her assets.

11. Jennifer Aniston in Elie Saab

Jennifer Aniston is partial to a red dress on the red carpet and this Elie Saab number is simple and chic.

12. Claire Danes in Elie Saab

This navy Elie Saab dress is perfect for Claire Dane's tomboy-ish style. A plunging neckline is always a showstopper.

13. Cate Blanchett in Ulyana Sergenko

Nominated at the Golden Globes for her role in the film Blue Jasmine, Brit acctress Cat Blanchett would steal the show in this golden Ulyana Sergenko gown - its very Game of Thrones!

14. Amy Adams in Jenny Packham

Amy Adams is loved for her cute, girl next door appeal, but we would love to see her sex it up in this seriously sheer gown from Brit designer Jenny Packham.

15. Taylor Swift in Valentino

Singer Taylor Swift is known for having a penchant for gold dresses and this Valentino Couture number would be no expection.

16. Emma Thompson in Valentino

Brit actress Emma Thompson is up for an award for her role in Saving Mr. Banks and the 54 year old actress and writer has never looked so hot. Sheer lace Valentino in rich plum and teal hues would be a real treat.

17. Naomi Watts in Giambattista Valli

Shes no stranger to the red carpet, but we'd love to see Naomi Watts have a bit more fun on the red carpet - this Valli gown would be our dream.

18. Lily Collins in Alexandre Vauthier

Actress Lily Collins has sky rocketed to stardom this year both on and off screen. The young starlet is fast becoming one of the Hollywood A-listers who's style we love. Since launching his eponymous brand in 2009 Alexandre Vauthier has become the go-to for striking red carpet looks. This black velvet gown is just what Lily needs to transform her from starlet to star in 2014.

19. Jennifer Lopez in Gucci

With a body like J-Lo's Gucci's plunging navy sequin gown is a total no-brainer.

20. Helena Bonham Carter In Vivienne Westwood

Nominated for Best Actress, Mini Series or TV Movie is yet another Brit - Helena Bonham Carter. A big fan of Vivenne Westwood on the red-carpet. This classic number is classic Helena.
