Lady Mary would rate these options for Michelle Dockery: Elie Saab, Dior or Valentino Couture

Fresh from FROWing at the Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week, Emmy nominee Michelle Dockery will be keen to make her mark on the red carpet. Her signature look is all about super clean sophisticated lines with an added style twist. Take for instance the Chado Ralph Rucci dress she wore to the SAG awards earlier this year. It was the definition of sophistication at the front, but when she turned around she revealed a plunging back with daring panels at the side. We predict Michelle will pick something from the likes of Dior and Valentino.

We hope Emilia Clarke with go short in Christopher Kane, wear Valentino Couture or Jonathan Saunders AW13

Emilia Clarke, nominated in the leading actress category,  is a relative newcomer but she will be looking to choose a dress that reflects her youth. We hope she opts for a short red dress from Christopher Kane with feather detail.

Lena Dunham could opt for Balenciaga, caped Elie Saab or strapless Dior

If anyone is going to tear up the rule book it might just be Lena Dunham. Recently she has been wearing a lot of Erdem florals but we hope she will jump at the chance of wearing a Balenciaga black strapless jumpsuit from Alexander Wang’s first collection for the house. Lena doing luxe tailoring would set many a fashion heart fluttering. Do it Dunham.

Clare Danes may opt for Marios Schwab or a dramatic gown from Prabal Gurung

Everyone’s favourite secret agent Claire Danes is likely to add another gong to her trophy cabinet tomorrow night, but will she top the best dressed list? We really want to see her in a dress fresh from the London Fashion Week runway - the Marios Schwab strapless white dress slashed at the leg to reveal an embroidered floral detail would be a real winner.

Our rail for Elizabeth Moss would include Elie Saab, Oscar De La Renta and Antonio Berardi

Elizabeth Moss is nominated TWICE this year and so with double the chance of winning, she needs a dress worthy of the occasion. Elizabeth has been more experimental with her fashion of late - perhaps the change in hair colour has injected new life into her wardrobe. She will either go for a classic red carpet floor-sweeper in the form of Elie Saab or in the spirit of being daring she might go for an embellished Antonio Berardi dress avec train.

Will Helen Millen wear Dolce &Gabbana or Jenny Packham or Vionnet?

The question is will she continue to favour red Dolce and Gabbanna or might Vionnet with their caped couture gowns tempt her away from Sicilian lace? Helen Mirren has also recently worn Jenny Packham and maybe she picked up something for the Emmys too when she was on her showroom appointment!

Could Cat Deeley wear Jason Wu OR Zuhair Murad?

Cat Deeley, nominated for her presenting work on So You Think You Can Dance, could go all white in Jason Wu but maybe K-Stew’s favourite designer, Zuhair Murad, could persuade her to wear a green heavily embellished cut out dress?

It’s the day before the 65th Prime Time Emmy awards and as we type the nominees' glam teams are doing the final preparations to make sure their clients top the best dressed list.

This is no small operation, as for each celebrity there will be a stylist, make-up artist, hair stylist and manager, plus an assistant or two. After all the Emmys is the most glamorous television awards in the whole wide world. The stakes are high this year as the likes of Downton Abbey, Girls and Homeland all nominated.

With blockbuster television shows than ever high profile actresses are being sucked into the small screen, so the red carpet fash-off will be as hotly contested as the race for the gold statues themselves.

The Possible Mood Board For Kerry Washington: Oscar De La Renta, Prabal Gurung, Stella McCartney & Dolce and Gabbana (Catwalking/Getty)

The Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama nomination list for instance is awash with talent including Michelle Dockery, Kerry Washington, Emilia Clarke, Elizabeth Moss and Clare Danes. Style wise most of the attention will be on nominee Kerry Washington who has made a red carpet splash this year on her promo tour for Django Unchained. Recently Kerry has been opting for shorter dress lengths, such as the printed Stella McCartney mini dress she wore to the Nickelodeon Teen Choice awards Perhaps for tomorrow evening she will choose an Oscar De La Renta print-tastic gown, a vivid Prabal Gurung resort dress or maybe she will dare to go short with a Stella McCartney LBD?

Last Year's Emmy Awards Red Carpet: Clare Danes, Michelle Dockery and Emilia Clarke (Getty)

The talent pool this year is mahoosive, from the relative red carpet newbie Emilia Clarke to red carpet veteran Helen Mirren. In preparation we have undertaken some considerable research to predict what dresses the ladies will be wearing tomorrow. We'd like to think of ourselves as style psychics.
