In February THE OUTNET teamed up with Oscar de la Renta for the first time, offering a 24 piece collection of 50s inspired floral tea dresses and full skirts modelled by New York darling Olivia Palermo. Unsurprisingly, they sold out in a flash. Well the good news is a specially created 20-piece Oscar de la Renta collection is launching on the 17th December.
This time it's Moscow's pocket-rocket style maven, Miroslava Duma, who fronts and styles the campaign. Miroslava is a front row fixture, stalked by the street style paps, thanks to her flawless fashion week wardrobe. With her Jacqueline Kennedy headscarf and weakness for a 1950s silhouette, she always has an air of uptown sophistication.
Not only that, the street style star’s relationship with the world of Oscar de la Renta is more significant than you may think. ‘For my graduation party I bought a piece from Oscar de la Renta,’ says Mira. ‘It was an Audrey Hepburn-style black dress and although it was very expensive, I still wear it now. It was worth it. Oscar really is the best brand you can invest in.’ Wear now and in a decade’s time? We're sold!

How would you describe Oscar de la Renta’s designs?
Miroslava Duma: Oscar de la Renta’s style is very classic, very uptown – it makes you feel confident, chic and elegant. I love the Oscar de la Renta for THE OUTNET collection; it’s beautiful silk dresses and feminine silhouettes are elegant and sophisticated.
Would you wear these pieces for daytime?
Miroslava Duma: It’s more of an evening collection.
How would you wear / style the pieces?
Miroslava Duma: I think you can style anything to make it more original and funky, to make people look at you and think ‘Oh! I like the way she did that.’ [However,] the Oscar de la Renta for THE OUTNET pieces are so strong, they don’t need anything else.
How do you dress differently for different cities?
Miroslava Duma: In Russia, you just need to warm up and not think about anything! London is more about ‘hipster’ style, while Paris is very classic, chic, elegant and sophisticated. New York is very cool and young, and I love to wear American designers while I’m there, such as Alexander Wang and Jason Wu. I also adore the uptown style of Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren.
What is your “street style strategy”?
Miroslava Duma: I’m not a model and not everything looks good on me. When I go to shows, I wear something that I’m comfortable and confident in – something cool that I love and styled myself.
How would you describe your relationship with the Oscar de la Renta brand?
Miroslava Duma: I have a close relationship with the Oscar de la Renta brand. I respect it a lot and it symbolizes the great style of American first ladies [such as] Nancy Reagan and Jacqueline Kennedy.
What are you looking forward to about the party season?
Miroslava Duma: In Russia, the biggest celebration of the year is New Year’s Eve, when [you have] a big dinner gathering with the whole family. The president gives a speech, saying something very touching and everyone cries. It’s a very touching moment [and] everyone remembers what happened this year, good and bad, and then they dream about something really good for next year. And then, about 12 seconds before the New Year, we make a wish!
