1. Blake turns Anna into a beaming Gossip Girl

The devil may wear Prada, but she occasionally wears a smile too - if Blake Lively's in the room, that is. Anna Wintour arrived at the Michael Kors show today with her trademark pout firmly in place, until she caught sight of the honey-haired Gossip Girl actress. Look how animated she is! The pair nattered like old chums (Anna has long been a championer of Ms Lively, of course) and the US Vogue editrix even managed to muster a grin for the delighted paps. It was almost as brilliant as the time Wintour shared a FROW giggle with Harper Beckham. We said almost.

2. Wu's the Boss

What a busy bee Jason Wu is! A few days after showing his eponymous label, the designer debuted his first collection for Hugo Boss today. Tasked with revamping the German brand, Wu delivered a balanced mix of masculine and feminine pieces and elegant work-wear. Many came in Boss’ signature hue, grey, but there was a twist to the tribute. We were also excited to see Edie Campbell on the catwalk for the first time this season, not to mention the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Diane Kruger on the FROW.

3. Thirtysomething Carolyn Murphy opens the Michael Kors show

'We're models of the '90s so we like to keep it real and say it like it is,' Carolyn Murphy told us when we met her backstage at the Michael Kors show this morning. And the uber-model certainly brought her clout to the catwalk when she opened the designer's show followed by a parade of veteran beauties including Karen Elson and Jacquetta Wheeler.

4. Meet the street (style) artist

The icy streets of New York are crammed with photographers, bloggers and fashion fans desperate to take a snap of the many fabulous outfits on display - but today, one lady caught our eye. Rather than being weighed down by a hefty camera and running amid the scrum, this unknown artist quietley sat on the pavement sidewalk and painted - yes, painted - each look that trotted past. It was quite mesmirising to watch her in action - so much so that we stupidly forgot to ask for her name. Help us find her!

5. Street style lessons learned

Speaking of street style, there's no end of inspiration for cold-weather wear as the temperatures continue to drop here in NYC. And if there's one thing we've learned, it's to pack a power coat. Bright colours are sure to get you noticed and pink hues are still going strong, but we've also spotted many an ankle-biting cover-up perfect for twirling (and staying cosy) in. There's been a variety of novelty versions too including one sheep-esque number complete with an eared-hood, which looked as snug as it did striking, while metallic coats are big news. Well, if they're good enough for Alexa... We'll be bringing a few choice coats over to London Fashion Week and in the meantime, see our favourite street style looks from NYFW here.

6. Today's model crush is... Malaika Firth

What a beauty. Malaika is the Kenyan-born Brit model everyone was talking about last year when she bagged THAT Prada campaign, but today she was transformed into a Michael Kors girl complete with glossy skin, a gorgeously feminine up-do and a free bag from Mr Kors himself! 'He gives all the models a gift that's like a purse, which I think is so sweet,' the catwalker told us when we interviewed backstage. To watch our full video chat with Malaika, click here.

7. Gerard Butler made our day

Last but not least, a certain dapper actor brightened up our Wednesday - and we're not talking about Michael Douglas who was FROWing at Michael Kors, although that was pretty exciting. In fact, it was Gerard Butler who arrived to see Jason Wu's debut collection for Hugo Boss and caused a unanimous swoon throughout the fash pack thanks to his sharp suit and all-round rugged handsomeness. Post-show, he was more than happy to pose for snaps, as you can see via this snippet of a video below. Talk about a PHWOAR FROW moment.
