Hunger Games fans will know that fashion is a vital part of the identity of the Capitol. The film franchise has an Alexander McQueen-meets-Thierry Mugler vibe with architectural structures, Quality Street colours and Schiaparelli puffy sleeves. The fashion world took notice of the couture in the Capitol as Alexander McQueen, Rodarte and Tommy Hilfiger all came out as fans of the bonkers style.
It looks like the folks at Net-A-Porter are wild for the Hunger Games too, as today they announced they are teaming up with the Costume Designer of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Trish Summerville, to create a luxury clothing line inspired by the film. 'Capitol Couture by Trish Summerville' includes 16-ready-to-wear pieces, alongside jewellery and handbags inspired by the Capitol and will hit Net-A-Porter on 22 November, the date of the worldwide release.
How will the designer translate her bonkers costumes into a wearable collection? We have a clue thanks to the sketch of a structured coat with a fur collar attached - we can see the slick NY fash pack working this look. Summerville said about her high fashion venture: "I am extremely proud of the designs that we created for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and there’s no partner more appropriate for ‘Capitol Couture’ than the world’s most cutting-edge luxury retailer. I can’t wait to share it with the public through this exclusive partnership with Lionsgate and NET-A-PORTER.'

Holli Rogers, Fashion Director, at Net said of the collection: 'Our customers take their style cues from myriad sources, from the latest runway shows and street trends to TV and film. Fashion plays an important role in The Hunger Games series and is especially prevalent in ‘Catching Fire’, and fans of the franchise will see the film reference in the collection. This is also brilliant fashion in its own right, and we’re delighted to provide our customers with the chance to purchase limited-edition pieces designed by one of the most original costume designers in the industry today.'
When it comes to costume design, Summerville is the best. She will be awarded Costume Designer of the Year for her work on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at the 10th Annual Style Awards tonight. This is the event which kicks off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York and will be hosted by Grazia favourite Nicole Richie.
Fingers crossed we'll see Jennifer Lawrence wearing the collection on her promo tour for 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' in November. Brush up on J Law's greatest red carpet moments in the gallery below...
