Seeing Red! Model Natalie Westling Has The Face (And Hair) Wanted By Marc Jacobs, Saint Laurent And Prabal Gurung

Aspiring models take note: dying your hair a crazy colour really does wonders for your industry profile!

Following in the loopy-locked tresses of rainbow-kid Chloe Norgaard and candyfloss cutie Charlotte Free comes Natalie Westling; the Arizona girl and former dirty-blonde who caused chatter during the Prabal Gurung runway because of her striking vermillion mane. It certainly complemented the spectrum of scarlet and crimson that featured so heavily Prabal’s collection, but the designer didn’t go all Tyra Banks-stylee America’s Next Top Model-inspired extreme makeover on this doll-like beauty: eager eyes will note that her traffic light ‘do was already in place thanks to the most recent Marc Jacobs campaign, where Natalie stars alongside Miley Cyrus.

The Cut caught up with Miss Westling backstage and discovered that the dying process included bleach, two types of toner and Manic Panic. "No one else has this hair colour, so it would be perfect to keep it. It's so specific, but different," she says. While she realises it may "limit her in what shows she can and can't do” her existing client list is impressive enough to keep things ticking over – with or without a shocking sweep of cherry hair. In addition to her MJ moment, she has modelled in S/S'14 advertising for Saint Laurent and Valentino, walked Chanel’s Haute Couture show, and features in the Models.com ‘Hotlist’.

Trending redheads: Taylor Tomasi Hill [Rex] and Game of Thrones' Melisandre

GraziaDaily has many favourite redheads, but two particular comparisons spring to mind: firstly, that of the Red Priestess aka Melisandre in Game of Thrones and secondly of a more established fashion week figure: Taylor Tomasi Hill. The former M'oda Operandi creativer director's auburn locks are popular amongst the street-style photographers, so there’s definitely potential for sidewalk snapshots to be taken of Natalie. Watch this space, folks.
