My Week In Fashion: Grazia's Senior Fashion Editor Plays Game Of Thrones
My Week In Fashion
Welcome to My Week In Fashion! Every Tuesday, Gemma Hayward - Grazia's Senior Fashion Editor - shows us what she's seen, loved and bought. Click through the gallery above to see what she's been loving this week, from her shopping trip to COS to dressing up as a Game Of Thrones character…
1. Cold As Ice
After a nomination from Heat Magazine for the ALS Ice bucket challenge, team Grazia rose to the task to be doused with buckets of freezing cold water brimming with ice. I was dubious at first as I had never heard of the illness, but after researching and finding out it was Motor Neurone Disease (what we call it in the UK), and how much help they need with drug development, my mind was made up. So off we went to a quiet corner of Covent Garden to do the deed, and I'm pretty sure out screams could be heard all over London.
2. Game Of Thrones
I went to a Game of Thrones party at the weekend to celebrate my friend turning the tender age of 40. Now, having never watched an episode in my life, I was flummoxed as to what to wear. So with help of Google and the fashion team, we worked out I could go as part of the Nights Watch. This involved me throwing on a stupidly large fluffy vintage Martin Margiela cardigan I own and my new leather j-brand jeans, adding a sword and I was transformed! Well, in a half-hearted kind of way! Here I am posing on the throne, which my clever friend Donna made
3. Cross Dressing
In this week’s issue of Grazia, I dressed up in men's clothes. No, this time it wasn't for charity or fancy dress, it was in fact to road test the lovely new menswear line from Whistles which is launching in September. I chose a rather handsome black shearling bomber, which I wore with my LK Bennett checked trousers and Tabitha Simmons heels. I wanted to wear it oversized, but I could have gone a size down. Go on girls, form an orderly queue. It’s just too good to let the boys have for themselves…
There I was, minding my own business, popping into COS to try to pick up my boyfriend a suit for a forthcoming wedding when I thought it would be rude not to have a little browse for myself. But, I hadn't factored in on them having their new AW collection in, and I certainly hadn't prepared myself for my new, very long wish list that I have made myself. I'd already picked up a very cute little bomber jacket in the COS sale, you see, but I've fallen head over heels for this leather version with a draw string hem and I'm almost as taken with a navy one which sits longer in length at the bottom of hips. Both divine. Then, there is the sweet little shirtdress, a crisp white shirt, a black jumper. a marble clutch bag and about ten winter coats which have got my name written all over them.
5. G I R L
For the first time Comme des Garcons has collaborated with a singer to release a perfume. Pharrell Williams, a huge fan of the Japanese fashion house is the chosen one and he has said this collaboration is an experience he will cherish. Its unisex, but the scent is named G I R L – the title of his album and comes in a very happy looking bottle. I can’t wait to find out what it smells like – it will be stocked in Dover Street Market from September.
