We up bright and early this morning to kick start December in the most festively fashionable of ways. Team Mulberry treated us to a breakfast of bacon butties and coffee at the rather fancy Claridge's before we hopped on the Harrods bus (deep green, totally British) for a dash across London to see the department store's Christmas windows.
Arriving in Knightsbridge, we were greeted by merry carol singers who entertained as we admired the displays. This year, Mulberry is celebrating the magic of Christmas and the joy of fairy tales so how better to decorate Harrods' five windows than with winter woodlands covered in sparkling snow and adorable animals.
The Mulberry fairy tale harks back to the brand’s roots in the English countryside with British art director and set designer Shona Heath transforming the iconic store into a snow-covered woodland with a frozen lake, woodland creatures and a mysterious and magical Mulberry tree. Plus a LOT of gorgeous bags.
As if that wasn't enough to get us in the festive spirit, Mulberry enlisted the help of Downton Abbey’s Allen Leech to read an excerpt from a favourite fairy tale. Visit mulberry.com from 4pm on Monday 2 December to enter a fairy tale competition: watch an exclusive video clip and guess which fairy tale Allen is reading for a chance to win a beautiful Mulberry bag as a festive treat.
Fairy tale storytelling will continue in the Mulberry pop up space on each Saturday until Christmas. On 7 December poet Murray Lachlan Young will be reciting a festive poem, and on 14 December Kids Company’s Camila Batmanghelidjh will be reading her own fairy tale creation.
Visitors to the pop up space in the run-up to Christmas will have the opportunity to place an order for Mulberry Monogramming to get their initials embossed onto a selection of leather accessories, and can also enjoy bespoke fairy tale tags and stickers to personalise gift-wrapping. All products featured in the Mulberry fairy tale campaign, including the iconic Bayswater and Lily bags in festive red, can be bought on mulberry.com and in Mulberry stores. Happy shopping Christmas!
