Someone has got a serious girl crush and her name is Julia Roberts. And the name of her crush... none other than one woman acting phenomenon, Meryl Streep. In fact, Julia seems to have gone beyond crush status to full on unadulterated emulation if Julia’s red carpet appearances this week are anything to go by. Is it just us who's noticed these two are basically morphing into one collective? Well, that's why we're christening them (drum roll please) Jeryl. Look at them!

Yes, it really struck us when Jules hit the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards last night [above] wearing a printed floor length Juan Carlos Obando dress - and added some sunglasses for the occasion. Hmm, who did she get that tip from? Yep, it's the lady that Ms Roberts lovingly greeted on the carpet: Meryl, who was also wearing sunnies. Perhaps this was a mere accident OR maybe Julia received a last minute ‘how to be a successful actress without swaggering around in body con’ talk.

It doesn’t stop there. Earlier this week at the Golden Globes, Julia sported a black Dolce & Gabbana dress. Nothing out of the ordinary about that you may think BUT the introduction of a white shirt underneath is very Meryl. It was a concerted effort to appear under the radar rather than flashing the flesh, a trick that Streep-y often uses. She ensures that her red carpet choices keep the attention on her acting ability, not the fact that she is wearing the 'It' designer or the latest must-have dress before any other Hollywood starlet.

We're guessing Julia's new, distinctly conservative style approach must come from many hours spent with Queen Streep during the filming of their film August: Osage County (watch the trailer below). With the Pretty Woman actress approaching a new phase in her career where she is no longer playing LA-stripper-turned-millionaire-girlfriends, perhaps she sought Meryl’s advice. The arm pit hair statements are certainly long gone. What WOULD Meryl say?! Admittedly, we can't blame Jules for emulating the woman who broke records this week by receiving her EIGHTEENTH Academy Awards nomination.
Speaking of which, come the night of the Oscars, will we see more matchy-matchy-ness? Here's hoping the new phenomenon that is Jeryl will be certified official.
