Are Mothers Of Girls More Fashionable? We Think Not!

27 March 2014 by

Remember when the world cooed over Reese Witherspoon's revelation that her 13-year-old daughter helped her pick a gown for the 2013 Oscars? Or how adorable we thought it was when Katie Holmes confessed Suri has become a mini stylist? Well, it seems they're not the only ones who look to their offspring for style advice. In fact, according to new research, having a daughter can actually make you more stylish.

A study by Gray & Osbourn has revealed that mothers of girls are seen as more fashionable than those with sons - and it's partly because they get style advice from their mini-mes. In fact, more than half of the women surveyed (51%) say they trust their daughters' opinion more anyone else's. Meanwhile, just 5% would trust their son's opinion on an outfit. Oh dear.

When you look at the likes of Kate Moss, Jessica Alba, Michelle Obama and Demi Moore, who exclusively have daughters, you'd say the proof is in the pudding. They are yummy mummies indeed. But! What about Miranda Kerr, mother of Flynn Bloom, who is ever-resplendent with her wardrobe of floaty skirts, sharp jackets and leather trousers? And then there's Rachel Zoe who has not one but TWO sons and has made a career of being ever so stylish. Something tells us she'll continue to be considered chic whether she has a daughter or not.

So we've made a gallery in honour of those famous mothers with sons who are as equally (if not more) stylish than some of their daughter-only counterparts. Hello Jourdan Dunn! Step forward January Jones! And, c'mon people, GWEN STEFANI! Click through the fashionable lot above...
