Moschino Names Designer Jeremy Scott, Their Former Intern, As Creative Director

[Rex]

Last night Moschino announced that Mr Jeremy Scott has been appointed as Creative Director of the brand, making his catwalk debut with the fall/winter 2014-2015 collection during Milan Fashion Week. If you're not up on your catwalk seasons, that's this February peeps.

Scott commented to Style.com: 'It’s kind of a fairy-tale story. I was the [Moschino] intern, and now I’m running the company.' Impressive stuff. Moschino said in a release: 'This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of re-interpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino.'

The Twittersphere exploded with the news as everyone from Miley Cyrus to Kylie Minogue sent over congratulatory tweets to the designer. But it was Mr Scott who really made us chuckle by announcing the news by a meme of Spongebob.

Reactions on Twitter to the big news

So what can we expect from his first collection? Scott commented: 'For me, one of the key elements of Moschino is humour. It’s one of the few houses that has humour, and it’s the same thing for me. Another one of the bonding elements is their written messages that express thoughts and twist ideas. We share an obsession with poking fun at fashion. Whimsy, also.'

Jeremy says he wants to maintain his own rebellious style adding: 'I don’t think I could’ve found a more rebellious brand than Moschino if I tried. It’s so irreverent, things Franco did and things the brand’s continued to do in his name. It’s perfect.'

Whatever the end result we predict that he will have a starry clientele as his Instagram account is overflowing with selfies with the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Cara Delevingne and Rihanna, as they are big fans of his winged hoodies, Spongebob jumpers and statement sneaks.
