With a line up including Miuccia Prada, Baz Luhrmann, Carey Mulligan, Florence Welch, Katy Perry, Tobey Maguire, Isla Fisher, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Alexa Chung and Harley Viera Newton, one could be forgiven for thinking that time had fast forwarded a week, and we'd just witnessed the red-carpet line-up for this year Met Ball.
Last night however, this plethora of A-listers donned their favourite Prada and Miu Miu finery to celebrate the opening of Catherine Martin (she's Baz Luhrmann's costume designer) and Miuccia Prada's Dress Gatsby exhibition at the Prada New York Epicentre at 575 Broadway in Manhattan.
The exhibition, curated by New York studio 2x4displays a selection of Martin and Prada's costumes designed for the much awaited Baz Luhrmann adaptation, which premieres tonight at the Lincoln Centre in New York City.
The exhibition promises to display exactly the selection of eye candy that any style savvy New Yorker would expect to see at the helm of two such talented women; gowns, dresses, hats, shoes, jewellery, and sketches will be on show, as will plenty of extra titbits; from production stills, backstage footage, film trailers as well as each character's dressed mannequins and rather elaborately, a two hundred foot mural showing a montage drawn from the extravagant party scenes at Jay Gatsby’s Long Island mansion.
This wondrous display of Catherine martin and Ms Prada's luscious looking costumes will be on show in NYC until May 12th, after which the exhibition will tour Asia starting with Prada's Tokyo epicentre store from June 14 – 30 and the IFC Mall in Shanghai from mid-July.
