UPDATE: Yesterday Michelle Williams was revealed as the face of two of Louis Vuitton’s luxury handbags, the W and the Capucines. Today, as promised, we’ve got an exclusive behind the scenes video from the star’s first shoot for the brand with photographer Peter Lindbergh. In the promo Williams can be seen talking to the crew, laughing and joking as she has her makeup retouched and smoldering in a selection of looks styled by Jacob K.
The star even works a Marilyn Monroe pout as she speaks wistfully over the top of the edit: "Its like falling in love. I fall in love with characters. It's like falling in love in life. You can't help it, you can't control it, you don't listen to what other people says, you just follow your heart. Everything else becomes kind of irrelevant. I don't really try to mastermind it. I would hope to stay present and open to what is moving me in the moment and generally that tends to be what's challenging because if it's not challenging then why do it.
"My work on a movie starts - I mean Marilyn started a year before we started filming. These things require muscle memory, the more time you put into it, the more natural it becomes and the easier and more free it will make my job as I won't be thinking, thinking, thinking. I don't know, maybe I'm just procrastinating. Somebody once said - maybe I read it in a poem - it's like jumping off a cliff and finding your wings on your way down."

Thursday 25th July: Michelle Williams for Louis Vuitton
With previous campaign stars including Angelina Jolie and Madonna, Louis Vuitton have looked to Hollywood once again for their latest leading lady - Michelle Williams. Except for a brief role as ambassador for Band of Outsiders this is the Academy Award nominated actress's first major fashion gig, but she handles the lens like a pro. In the images shot by photographer Peter Lindbergh, which are set to hit newsstands this August, Williams can be seen promoting two pieces from the brand's handbag collection and wearing items from Louis Vuitton’s Autumn Winter 2013 show.
The bags in question are the W, a divine mix of monogram canvas and multicolored leather and the Capucines, a superbly crafted leather tote. Leaning on a vintage trunk Michelle showcases the luxury leather accessories - and her super toned arms, which we reckon would get the thumbs up from even Madonna herself. The My Week With Marilyn star is every inch the Modern Monroe, coyly looking to camera and pouting her ruby red lips.
Williams, who has famously hinted that she keeps her hair short because her ex-partner, the late Heath Ledger, liked it that way, has undergone quite the transformation for the campaign including a new textured 'do by stylist Sam McNight and darker brows, the work of makeup artist by Stéphane Marais. Our Beauty Director Liz Hambleton says, "I think Michelle's longer, sweeping layers and rooty blonde colour bring a tomboy edge to her classic pixie cut. It makes it a little more '90s, which can only be a good thing."
Vuitton's new star has certainly come a long way since her Dawson's Creek days, swapping Jen Lindley's casual Creek girl style for a wardrobe of polished red carpet looks such as the red LV dress she wore to the Oscars in 2012.
