The G8 Summit is serious business, but it doesn’t mean we can’t take a break from the heavy stuff and take a moment to step back and enjoy the veritable parade of stylish looks modelled by the First Lady herself, Michelle Obama. The Obama family’s European tour began last Sunday, with Michelle leaving home in Washington recycling her favourite Tracy Reese gingham dress with neat little cropped jacket, ladylike bag and simple black ballerinas.

Landing in Belfast, Mrs O took a leaf out of Kate Middleton’s diplomatic-styling book, carefully selecting British label Burberry as she disembarked the plane. The FLOTUS corseted coat with a leather belt by Burberry was just the ticket for the drizzly Northern Irish weather, and is the latest in a long line of Brit brands worn by Michelle, wowing in Alexander McQueen, Roksanda Ilincic and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi on previous visits.
At Barack’s speech at Waterfront Hall in Belfast left and wearing Narciso Rodriguez to Riverdance in Dublin right
Underneath the trench, MObama wore a long-sleeved gold silk top with rust coloured trousers and heavy layered pearl necklace for her first official visit on the island, her husband Barack’s speech at Waterfront Hall in Belfast. Her next stop was Dublin, where the Michelle looked laid back but beautiful as she took a tour of Trinity College wearing the same outfit as earlier but cosied up by adding a sleeveless jacket by designer Lela Rose. Later in the afternoon she did a quick change into a tailored look, pairing a Narciso Rodriguez jacket, black trousers and two-tone handkerchief hem Azalea silk top for a special performance of Riverdance.
Wearing J.Crew in Wicklow left and leaving for Berlin in all-black right
When Tuesday rolled round it was time to explore the luscious green landscape with her daughters, as Michelle visited the Wicklow mountains wearing a quasi-equestrian jacket by one of her favourite American labels J.Crew. The downtown field jacket is still available to buy online now for a not-too-shabby £125! The jet-set style maven chose loose black trousers and top in demure all-black as she touched down in Berlin later that day.
Wearing monochrome to visit the Berlin Wall memorial
Next on the schedule, Michelle and her daughters visited the Berlin Wall memorial wearing summer’s biggest trend, monochrome, in her colour block silk top and trousers with long strand pearls. Later in the day, the power couple attended a dinner thrown for the President by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, with Michelle wowing in an extremely feminine prom style dress from Carolina Herrera’s pre-fall collection.
