Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Tell Grazia About Their Latest Handbag Collection: EXCLUSIVE

The chic Olsens don't leave their favourite handbags behind when it comes to red-carpet styling

In this week’s (may we say) stellar edition of Grazia you’ll find an exclusive reveal of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s latest handbag designs. The stylish sisters are never seen without a top-notch handbag in tow – and they’ve already enjoyed major success with the arm candy created for their premium fashion label, The Row. Now the sisters are launching their debut handbag collection for their more accessible contemporary line, Elizabeth and James.

Elizabeth and James' debut handbag collection includes the above haircow printed shopper and leopard haircow satchel

‘Ashley and I started with Elizabeth and James signatures: the perfect mix of masculine and feminine, the balance of uptown and downtown, aspirational yet attainable. We translated those elements into lightweight, functional bags?with a clean, minimal aesthetic,’ explains Mary-Kate exclusively to Grazia.

And while The Row’s price tags head into the ultra- luxury zone (one crocodile backpack cost over £20,000), Elizabeth and James’s ocelot-printed ponyskin or elegant caramel-coloured suede totes start at a tempting £250. From slouchy hobo silhouettes through to satchels and a cute little drawstring number (called the Sling), your everyday handbag needs will now be completely catered for.

The black satchel = a super-chic work bag

‘I love the sling and being hands free,’ says Ashley. Mary- Kate can’t decide. ‘I love them all. Right now, my favourite?is the cross body. The straps can be removed and the bag carried as a clutch. We think a lot about day-to-night when we design,’ she reveals. Watch out for a till-side scuffle as they continue to drop into Harvey Nichols, Matches and Magpie and Bear, like, RIGHT NOW!

Joanna Cook (Thu Aug 08 11:29:46 BST 2013): I'm sorry but a handbag at £250 is hardly accessible. How much do they think normal people earn? I could never spend that much on a bag and if I did it wouldn't be an 'everyday' bag it would be in a cabinet on display! #nothighstreet
