Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen Invest In BeachMint: What Could This Mean?

You'll remember the Olsens, aka: fashion’s favourite tiny twins, designed a range of T-shirts for StyleMint as back in 2011. The collection was a part of the larger ecommerce brand, BeachMint, which has seen an array of star-studded collaborations including Kate Bosworth and her stylist Cher Coulter for JewelMint, Rachel Bilson and stylist Nicole Chavez for ShoeMint, Jessica Simpson for BeautyMint and even Justin Timberlake’s interiors range - who knew the boy had a talent for homewares?

Now Mary-Kate and Ashley have taken a minority ownership stake in the California-based BeachMint. Ooh! The sisters will play both creative and consultative roles and act as cochairs on its advisory board. The website specialises in online personal styling that creates a profile for each of their shoppers based on their favourite brands, the kind of shoe they’d wear on a date, the kind of blouse they’d wear to a get the jist.

The Olsens already have a wealth of fashion projects under their studded belts, from their elegant premium brand The Row to their more affordable lines Elizabeth and James as well as Olsenboye so they're no strangers to managing big projects and multi-tasking. Their off-duty style also plays a huge role in their fashion icon status, combining a louche and ever so slightly grungey LA vibe with a touch of Parisian avant-garde (black, black, black) so we welcome any excuse to bag their look - or at least try to.

We're certainly impressed to hear a multimillion dollar powerhouse like the Olsens investing so heavily in an ecommerce company and can only get excited for the collabs to come. Keep your eyes peeled...
