The world becomes a more beautiful place every time French fashion house Dior release a new ad campaign. And today’s brand new campaign featuring the Lady Dior ambassador and model, and all-round ideal-woman Marion Cotillard is even better than we could have imagined. We’ve seen Cotillard as a mysterious showgirl with Sir Ian McKellen in an eight minute short film, and then she channelled Hollywood glamour a lá Elizabeth Taylor in 2011 for the brand’s campaign. Last spring we saw her looking radient in the Oscar Niemeyer-designed Communist Party HQ in Paris and then, our favourite to date, she danced and sang and looked unbelievably chic in the Lady Dior web documentary last October.
And now, we have the new campaign shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino – where Marion wears pre-fall looks which without a doubt look back into the Dior archives to the iconic New Look silhouette – made famous by Christian Dior in 1947 with his spring summer collection. Raf Simons’ take on Lady Dior, a whopping sixty-six years later is polished, sleek, modern, but still respectful of this iconic elegant look. The boxy quilted bags stay true to Lady Dior’s signature style, while this season’s colour popping hues and oversized dogtooth weave make a summery change to last season’s embellished collection.
From her huge repertoire of Lady Dior loveliness, is this her most ladylike one to date? Have a look through her back-catalogue of Lady Dior campaigns and let us know which is your favourite in the comments box below, and see the latest Lady Dior documentary below!
