Margherita Missoni Is Pregnant! What Can We Expect From Her Maternity Wardrobe?

Margherita Missoni, the granddaughter of the Missoni founders, is pregnant with her first child! Her pregnancy was announced at the end of February on WWD, but the news became apparent when the accessories director at Missoni attended Carine Roitfeld's coctail party in Paris Fashion Week with a cute little bump on show.

You might remember Margherita married racing driver Eugenio Amos last year in a fashion-tastic ceremony. There were powerhouse editors at the ceremony including Suzy Menkes, Franc Sozzani and Stefano Tonchi, and whimsical bridesmaids in floral gowns and fresh-flower headdresses. As for Margherita she wore a frothy, fabulously OTT gown which she designed herself pieced together by tailors in Sumirago and made with Missoni silk and organza. Dreamy.

So what clues does this give us for Marg's maternity style? She will be wearing Missoni, of course, but perhaps she will design her own custom made maternity clothes. We've taken a look back in the fashion archives to try and work out what a Missoni maternity wardrobe will look like. We've picked out oversized sweaters, flowing maxis and loud kaftans that would carry Margherita through the next nine months.

There must be something in the Evian water as it's not just Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton who are expecting, as the fashion world has experienced a baby boom. Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini and her husband Patrizio di Marco gave birth to daughter Greta just this week (n'aww) and Alexander McQueen's creative director Sarah Burton is currently heavily pregnant with twins.

Take a look at the Missoni looks which would work for maternity wear in the gallery below...
