What do Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Lara Stone have in common? No, they're not all Leo's exes but they have revealed their naked baby bellies in the name of art. Yes, Ms Stone is the latest star to 'do a Demi' and pose when pregnant - but this one has a rather, err, interesting twist.
Before giving birth to her first baby boy with husband David Walliams on May 6th, the Dutch model showcased her blooming baby bump for artist Marc Quinn. The striking artwork was unveiled at the 55th Venice Biennale festival yesterday and sees Lara utterly starkers in keeping with the legendary trend. But instead of being draped in diamonds or sporting a shimmering tan, Lara languishes on a ginormous mound of red meat. How Gaga-tastic!
If anyone's going to persuade Lara to do such a (rather icky) thing, it's Mr Quinn. This is the man behind that solid gold statue of Kate Moss, after all. You'll remember Mossy was the subject of a solid gold statue which shows the supermodel striking an impressive yoga pose. It's now worth a stonking £1.5 million.
Of course, it was Demi Moore who kick started the phenomenon waaay back in August 1991 when she bared all for the cover of Vanity Fair. Annie Leibovitz shot the actress when she was seven months pregnant, dressed in nada but diamonds.
A new trend was born and a hoard of pregnant stars followed suit, doing their best to emulate the iconic Demi pose. Britney Spears did it for Harper's Bazaar, Jessica Simpson struck a pose for ELLE and Mariah Carey gave it a go for *ahem* Life & Style. The supers also got in on the act with everyone from Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer to Eva Herzigova posing naked.
Lara, however, has opted for the arty route just like Sienna, Mossy and Jerry Hall. Both Kate and Jerry bared their bellies for artist Lucian Freud, with the painting of a preggers Moss now valued at £2,500,000 - £3,500,000. Phewf.
As for Sienna, just weeks before she was about to pop out (deep breath) Marlowe Ottoline Layng Sturridge - her daughter with Tom Sturridge - the 30-year-old unveiled her pregnant body for artist Jonathon Yeo. In true Oscar Award stylee, her mahoosive bump was spray-painted gold. Well, why ever not?
