L'Wren Scott has been found dead aged 47, according to reports. The fashion designer was found hanging in her Manhattan apartment by her assistant today. Police said her body was found around 10am, New York time, on 11th Avenue. According to New York Daily News, police did not suspect foul play, but the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death.

The gorgeously statuesque Scott had become a London Fashion Week favourite, showing her collections at intimate presentations. She was also known as a celebrity stylist, masterminding the red carpet wardrobes of Nicole Kidman, Madonna and Amy Adams among others. And this is the lady who was rumoured to be designing Angelina Jolie's wedding dress.

It was back in 2006 that Scott introduced her first collection called "Little Black Dress". Ever since, she became the go-to woman for sequinned, uber-elegant gowns which have been worn everywhere from the Oscars to the silver screen. Her most recent presentation set to show during February's London Fashion Week was cancelled at short notice, reportedly due to production issues. However, speculation has now emerged that the cancellation may have been due to personal problems.

Prior to working as a fashion designer and stylist, Scott forged a successful modelling career after being spotted by photographer Bruce Weber at a Calvin Klein photo shoot. The six-foot-tall raven-haired beauty then moved from her home state of Utah to Paris. F In addition to her catwalk career, Scott designed costumes for films including Ocean's Thirteen and Eyes Wide Shut and also collaborated with Lancôme and Banana Republic.

Scott started dating Mick Jagger in 2001 and designed bespoke tour costumes for The Rolling Stones in 2012. Jagger is currently on tour in Australia with a spokesman saying he is 'completely shocked and devastated' following the news. The likes of Marc Jacobs and Daisy Lowe have taken to Twitter to pay their respects, including Mick's ex-wife Bianca Jagger:

Grazia Daily spoke to Scott in December last year when she opened up about her fashion experiences. 'You realise that everyone has their own special set of problems and people come in all shapes and sizes,' she said. She also admitted that she loves showing in London. 'We are a British brand and I have had nothing but positive experiences here of the capital. London is the epicenter of fashion.'
