We didn't think we could have a bigger style crush on Lupita Nyong'o, and then her New York Magazine cover happened. In the Spring-tastic editorial Lupita is beyond perfect in embellished Miu Miu, red Stella McCartney and off the shoulder Balenciaga - along with that Chanel pearl headphone necklace. Lupita in pink and blue Giorgio Armani in front of matching print drapery gives us bigger goosebumps than that red caped Ralph Lauren she wore to the Golden Globes.
If you were hoping to crack Lupita's style code it's not gonna happen. New York Magazine write that she is careful about sharing details about her life, including her morning routine and meetings with her stylist. She said: 'I don’t know why, but I like to keep that part of it very intimate and very small.' No Instagram videos on Oscars night then?
She might not reveal her red carpet secrets, but she does share one adorable example of how she was naughty as a child. She told New York Magazine: 'There’s this cough syrup called Linctifed, and it was red and it was delicious. I went and I drank the whole bottle of it, and then I replaced it with water. I got into a lot of trouble for that.' So she was as good as gold then.
Lupita has gome from a relative unknown to an Oscar nominee for her performance in 12 Years A Slave, soaring to the top of the best dressed lists. She has picked up several fashion-industry stamps of approval - a Miu Miu campaign, a Dazed & Confused cover and Vogue Italia shoot. Plus in this year's Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue she is in the centre of the A Listers in a gold gown - yup, she's basically dressed as an Oscar. Seriously, what did we do last awards season without Lupita?
Lupita opens up to New York Magazine about her rise: 'I’ve been in a bubble. I haven’t been out much. I haven’t gotten used to being recognized. I was blissfully ignorant of the magnitude of the project I was in or what it was going to mean for the world.' We have a feeling we're going to see many, many more Lupita covers.
