Louise Thompson On Her Clothing Line And Favourite Made In Chelsea Moments
Those Made In Chelsea guys and girls certainly are busy bees. Alongside filming a hit TV show and studying in Edinburgh, Spencer's girlfriend Louise Thompson has found time to create two collections for online fashion brand Goddiva. You can shop the Christmas collection now, which features glamorous gowns and sparkly trouser suits for the well groomed crowd come party season. We sat down with the reality star-turned-designer to chat fashion, shopping and her MIC highlights. Scroll through the gallery for the full Q&A >>
Grazia Daily: How did the collaboration with Goddiva come about?
Louise Thompson: Goddiva approached me with the opportunity for me to offer my input into designing the collection. I got the chance to choose shapes, styles, colours and garments and then take part in photoshoots – basically all the fun stuff to do with fashion like getting my hair and makeup done and modelling. I’ve always been really into fashion so doing a collection is something that I’ve thought about but I never would have guessed I’d be so lucky as to be involved in something like this.
Grazia Daily: What pieces did you want to incorporate into your collection?
Louise Thompson: It’s a very formal range. It’s nice to have comfy stuff to wear sometimes but everyone likes to glam up especially on Made In Chelsea as people in Chelsea do tend to dress up a lot. It’s nice for people to be able to buy party pieces around Christmas time too.
Grazia Daily: Who is your ultimate style icon?
Louise Thompson: I look up to Rachel Zoe – I love The Zoe Report. In the UK I love Alexa Chung. I would love for her to wear my collection.
Grazia Daily: Which designers do you love?
Louise Thompson: At the moment I really like Preen and Phillip Lim. Of course I love Chanel and classic brands like Burberry, but I like more modern pieces too.
Grazia Daily: Which is your favourite dress that you've worn on the red carpet?
Louise Thompson: I have an amazing Markus Lupfer dress which I like to wear. It’s floor-length and sheer and features autumnal colours. But now I have a great selection of dresses from my own collection to wear too.
Grazia Daily: What three items should every girl have in her wardrobe?
Louise Thompson: A pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes because they look and feel fabulous, a good pair of jeans and a Goddiva dress!
Grazia Daily: What’s been your biggest fashion faux pas?
Louise Thompson: Wearing flares if you’re short!
Grazia Daily: Which shops do you rely on?
Louise Thompson: I love the Shop at the Bluebird. The stuff in there is insane. I also like smaller boutiques like Austique on the Kings Road and I buy a lot of things online too.
Grazia Daily: What are your handbag essentials?
Louise Thompson: My phone, my Lulu Guinness purse and a mirror.
Grazia Daily: Who do you think is the most stylish Made In Chelsea cast member and why?
Louise Thompson: Always Rosie because she really does care about fashion, she’s really on trend and she has her own fashion blog. It would be rude not to say her really. Rosie and Millie dress best.
Grazia Daily: What's been your Made in Chelsea highlight?
Louise Thompson: I always love it when we film going away – like when we stayed in a castle for the weekend or do little trips with a group of us. They’re always really fun because so much drama goes down!
Grazia Daily: What are your top tips for being a Chelsea Girl?
Louise Thompson: Aways have immaculate hair, look after your skin, and don’t wear too much makeup or fake tan. Don’t go overboard with your outfit, keep things simple and wear what’s flattering.
