Le Peche Mignon

Holloway Road isn't the most glamorous of places and actually we thought we really lucked out when we found that this cafe La Peche Mignon was around the corner from our flat. Lovely croissaints, copies of The Guardian to read and good coffee - ingredients to a good start to any weekend.

Assiette Anglaise

La Peche Mignon opened the restaurant Assiette Anglaise a while ago and again, it's nice that behind the miles of kebab shops and shops that there's a decent restaurant to escape to. They do good brunch food as well as solid French fare.

Estorick Collection

I have lazy gallery days when you just want to stay within your own area. The Estorick is always reliable and friendly with an impressive futurist permanent collection.

Highbury Fields

I grew up running off to Hampstead Heath in North London at every opportunity I got. So it's nice to have a patch of green nearby. Recently, it's also become primary training ground for my dip into distance running (I did a half marathon last year and plan to do more).

Pig and Butcher

We're a bit short on really good gastropubs in Holloway Road so we need to go down towards Angel to get our fix at the Pig and Butcher. Really great roasts, lovely charcuterie boards and gorgeous puds - and an interesting selection of beers and ciders too. This is comfort food nicely presented.
